TNSTC bus staff receive ORS to stay hydrated

Trichy: Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation's (TNSTC) Kumbakonam division has begun providing packets of oral rehydration solution (ORS) powder to its bus conductors and drivers. The initiative aims to help them stay hydrated while working in the intense summer heat and difficult conditions.As summer temperatures continue to rise day by day, bus staff have been complaining of discomfort and exhaustion. The complaints were especially raised by staffs in non-air-conditioned buses under harsh hot conditions.To support the bus staff facing difficulties due to the summer heat, the division started distributing ORS packets on Thursday.Managing director K Dasarathan formally launched the distribution at the Kumbakonam bus stand. Around 10,000 bus drivers and conductors working in approximately 3,500 buses across six regions — Trichy, Nagapattinam, Kumbakonam, Karur, Karaikudi, and Pudukottai — can now collect the ORS packets at the bus stands to keep themselves hydrated.
