Six more arrested in Perambalur bomb attack case
Trichy: Six absconding suspects were arrested on Saturday in connection with the Perambalur bomb attack, in which two policemen were injured on Jan 24. With these arrests, 15 suspects have been taken into custody. The prime accused in the case was shot dead by police.Last month, a gang hurled country-made bombs at history-sheeter ‘Vellai' Kali alias S Kalimuthu near Thirumanthurai in Perambalur district when he was being escorted by police from Dindigul sub-jail to Puzhal central prison. Two policemen were injured, but Kalimuthu from Madurai was unharmed. The Mangalamedu police registered a case.

The latest arrests include Isakimuthu, 42, from Tuticorin, Vigneshwaran, 27, and Ahmad Amanulla, 24, from Karur, and Mani, 37, Pazhanimurugan, 29, and Muniyasamy, 27, from Madurai. They were produced before the Perambalur judicial magistrate court and were later lodged in Trichy central prison. Earlier, the special team investigating the case arrested the key suspect, C Azhagu Raja, 30, from Madurai. When he allegedly tried to attack officers while trying to flee during a weapon recovery operation on Jan 27, he was shot dead by police.
