Trichy: Students of Thanthai Periyar Government Arts and Science College led by the tudents Federation of India (SFI) staged a protest on Thursday after body parts of a lizard were allegedly found in a soft drink bottle sold at the college canteen.
The issue surfaced when students noticed foreign particles resembling lizard remains floating inside bottles purchased from the canteen. Those who had consumed the drink reported feeling unwell, prompting concern among students.

Around six students were admitted to the Trichy Government Hospital for treatment.
Condemning the alleged lapse in hygiene and food safety, the SFI led a demonstration in front of the college, demanding a thorough probe. SFI district president G K Mohan and other functionaries participated in the protest.
Students urged the district administration to investigate the incident and take strict action against those responsible.
College authorities, along with officials from the concerned departments, have initiated an inquiry to determine how the contamination occurred and to prevent a recurrence, sources said.
