Karur: Former BJP state president K Annamalai on Monday slammed the state govt for delay in action against the commandant of the Tamil Nadu special police battalion in Coimbatore, who was accused of sexually harassing a woman police officer. Annamalai said NDA party leaders will carry out protests across the state on Tuesday against the state govt.
Addressing reporters in Karur, Annamalai said the state govt had been ‘saving' the officer. "The 45-year old police officer was sexually harassed in Oct 2025, but the action came only in Mar. The arrest also came only after the victim filed a complaint in the police station saying there was no action. This is an example of how TN police have spoilt in the DMK rule.
If the govt cannot protect a lady police officer, how will they protect common people?" he said.
Annamalai also said Senthil Balaji has brought a bad name to Karur. "He is rattled by the CBI summons over the Karur stampede that claimed 41 lives. After the incident happened, M R Vijayabhaskar was the first one to go without any advertisement. But Senthil Balaji came with 10 ambulances that had stickers of DMK medical wing and with live coverage projecting him as the first to come. The truth will come out through the CBI investigation," he said.
