Trichy: Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief coordinator
Seeman on Wednesday opposed the proposed delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies, stating that any reduction in the number of seats for
Tamil Nadu is unacceptable. He also questioned the timing of the debate in Parliament.
Addressing reporters in Pudukkottai on Wednesday, Seeman said, "After Tamil Nadu strictly implemented family planning and controlled its population, reducing its number of constituencies while increasing the number of seats in Uttar Pradesh is not acceptable." He also questioned why the matter is being taken up during the election season in Parliament.
Seeman on Wednesday campaigned in Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, and Nagapattinam districts.
Speaking in support of the party's candidate in Pattukottai (Thanjavur district), Seeman said, "Producers of all other goods are free to determine their own prices and live comfortably. But farmers, who feed the entire nation, are unable to fix the price of their produce and are forced to die in debt," he said.
Seeman assured that the NTK govt would resolve this long-standing issue by forming a committee with farmers.
"The govt will fix the price of agricultural produce based on the recommendations of that committee."
At Mannargudi (Tiruvarur district), Seeman outlined his liquor policy. "We will close all Tasmac liquor shops and will open toddy shops to sell the natural drink ‘kallu'," he said.
Seeman also promised to elevate the status of farmers by making agriculture and cattle rearing govt jobs. "Following the vision of agricultural scientist Nammalvar, we will turn farming and animal husbandry into govt employment," he said.
