Karur: Security arrangements have been intensified at at M Kumarasamy College of Engineering in Thalavapalayamin, Karur district, where counting of votes for the district will take place on May 4.Polling for the assembly election for the four constituencies of the district happened on April 23 across 1,111 polling stations. A three-tier security cover has been put in place at the counting centre. As many as 903 personnel from the central armed police forces and the state police will be deployed to ensure security, the district administration said. Authorities have also made elaborate arrangements for counting day, with separate committees and officers designated to oversee essential services. These include uninterrupted power supply, drinking water, restrooms, emergency medical teams, fire and rescue services, ‘108' ambulance services, and the provision of ORS.CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor the counting halls and tables. Separate access corridors have been created to facilitate the movement of candidates' agents and officials, with police personnel deployed along these routes. A meeting to review the preparatory arrangements was held on Thursday chaired by district election officer and collector K Ravikumar.
