Sanitary workers asked to wear gloves, safety gears

Trichy: Sanitary workers must wear gloves and safety gears at work, said Thippampatti V Aruchamy, chairman of the Tamil Nadu Sanitary Workers Welfare Board. He reviewed the implementation of welfare schemes of the state govt for sanitary workers in Trichy corporation. He also distributed smart cards to 30 beneficiaries and welfare aid of more than Rs 5 lakh. Around 4am, he inspected breakfast preparation work at the centralized kitchen for 3,243 sanitary workers. "More than 5,000 beneficiary cards were distributed to sanitary workers in Trichy district. Welfare aid of more than Rs 3 crore is being disbursed to workers in the district," he said. He chaired a meeting at Trichy corporation's main office to assess the wage disbursal and progress of welfare schemes such as education loans, old age pension, and accidental death benefits implemented for workers and their family members.
