Refused money for liquor, man kills mother

Trichy: A 30-year-old man who attacked his mother for refusing to give money to buy liquor a few days ago died of her injuries on Sunday.
Valliammai, 65, hailing from Ealur near Thottiyam in Trichy district, is survived by a son Raghupathy, 31, and husband Rajarathinam.
While Raghupathy, who worked in a private company, was an alcoholic and often used to quarrel with his mother for money to buy liquor.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday Valliammai refused to give him money and this led to an altercation. Irked over her refusal, he took a metal ladle from the kitchen and hit her on the head. She sustained a severe head injury and was rushed to a private hospital, where she underwent a surgery. She died on Sunday morning.
The Thottiyam police filed a case and arrested Raghupathy on the charge of murder. tnn
