Trichy: Trichy railway division aims to significantly enhance its annual freight capacity, to augment the national freight loading capacity to 3,000 million tonnes by 2030.
The division organized a business development meeting on Thursday, to review the anticipated traffic projections for the financial year 2026-27.
Addressing the participants, Balak Ram Negi, divisional railway manager, stressed the critical need to increase the rail coefficient in freight movement. He highlighted ‘Mission 3000', a flagship strategic initiative of Indian Railways, which aims to augment the freight loading capacity to 3,000 million tonnes by 2030.
Negi further noted that this initiative is closely aligned with the national vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047', which seeks to transform India into a developed nation by 2047 through rapid infrastructure development and sustained economic growth.
Negi assured the customers that the division would carefully examine all suggestions provided by them and extend every possible support to facilitate enhanced freight loading in the coming year.
Representatives from Karaikal Port Private Limited, IL&FS Tamil Nadu Power Company Limited, Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Paper Limited, KRIBHCO Fertilizer Limited, and several cement companies including Dalmia Cements, India Cements, Ramco Cements, and Tamil Nadu Cements participated in the meeting.
Officials from the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation representing Trichy, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and Mayiladuthurai districts, along with representatives from the Central Warehouse Corporation in Trichy, also attended.
