Preparations in full swing for Bharat Scouts 75th anniv

Trichy: School education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi on Monday reviewed the preparations for the Bharat Scouts and Guides' 75th jubilee jamboree which will take place at the Sipcot industrial park near Manapparai here from Jan 28 to Feb 3.The minister assessed the measures taken for providing basic facilities for the participants. A temporary market featuring at least 50 shops will be set up for scouts and visitors to purchase goods during the celebrations. The event, named as the Kalaignar centenary special jamboree, is expected to attract 25,000 participants, including international students.Approximately 2,500 tents will be installed to accommodate attendees, including 1,000 for boy scouts, 900 for girl guides, 500 for scoutmasters, and 50 for officials and administrative staff. Arrangements have also been made for 2,000 bio-toilets and bathing showers.The event will feature a variety of activities such as patrolling, campcraft, signalling, march pasts, and first aid demonstrations. David Baden-Powell, the 5th baron of Gilwell and a descendant of Scouts founder Robert Baden-Powell, will attend the event.
