Trichy: Trichy district administration has started distributing Form 12D to senior citizens to enable eligible voters among them to express their willingness to cast postal votes from home in the assembly election. Arrangement are being made for senior citizens aged above 85 years and persons with disabilities having more than 40% physical impairment to exercise their franchise through postal ballots.
There are 16,327 senior citizens and 22,406 persons with disabilities in the nine constituencies in Trichy district, totalling 38,733 eligible individuals. District collector V Saravanan said voters should fill the forms delivered by the booth level officers during home visits and return them in five days.
Election Commission of India has appointed 13 observers for Trichy district to oversee the assembly election.
They include six general observers, six expenditure observers, and one police observer.
The general observers assigned are IAS officers K V N Chakradhar Babu (Manapparai and Thiruverumbur), Bijay Kumar Dash (Musiri and Thuraiyur), Praveen Kumar Laxkar (Lalgudi and Mannachanallur), Jagdish Prasad Meena (Trichy West), Madhusmita Sahoo (Trichy East), and Joram Beda (Srirangam).
Expenditure observers are IRS officers Bal Krishnan Gopal (Trichy East and Thiruverumbur), Ajit Kumar Nirala (Musiri and Thuraiyur), Radhe Krishna (Lalgudi and Mannachanallur), Vivek Upadhyay (Trichy West), Abhinav Ujjainia (Srirangam), and Anunay Bhati (Manapparai). IPS officer Abhay Singh is the police observer for all assembly constituencies in Trichy. In Perambalur district, Neha Bansal and Amar Bahadur Singh have been appointed as general observers, while IRS officer Anuj Garg is the expenditure observer.
