The PM worshipped Lord Ranganathar in the sanctum sanctorum. He also worshipped at the Ranganayagi Thaayaar, Garudazhvar, Chakkarathazhvar and Ramanujar shrines in the temple.

The PM reached the temple around 11.15 am. Before worshiping at the temple, he changed to veshti and shawl in a tent set up at the entrance of the Renga Renga Gopuram.

He was accorded golden poorna kumba honour by temple priests. The priests offered holy water to him. They placed a sadari (crown) on the head and the shoulders of the Prime Minister.

The PM offered fruits to the temple elephant Aandal. The elephant blessed Modi by placing its trunk on his head.

The PM listened to the Kambaramayana Parayanam -- a spiritual discourse of Ramayanam authored by poet Kamban -- at the Kambar Mandapam in the temple.
