Trichy: Deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin attended centenary celebrations of Periyarist and social justice activist V Anaimuthu in Perambalur on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, he said there is no defeat for Periyar in Tamil Nadu.Describing Anaimuthu as not merely a pride for Perambalur but an identity for the entire state, he cited the activist's statement that Periyar's defeat would mean the defeat of all Tamils. "Periyar will always win, and there is no defeat for him in Tamil Nadu. Similarly, Tamil Nadu and Tamils will always triumph. No one can prevent that," he said.Udhayanidhi inaugurated a photo exhibition dedicated to Anaimuthu on the occasion and released a centenary souvenir compiling his works. He pointed out that chief minister M K Stalin had declared all of Anaimuthu's writings as govt property. He distributed welfare assistance worth Rs359 crore to around 10,000 beneficiaries. He outlined several key schemes introduced by the DMK govt and called on the people to back chief minister M K Stalin for advancing the state's development. "Our chief minister is the only one in the country who gets up close with the people and meets them every day."
"The CM does not govern solely from the Secretariat in Chennai but actively tours the state, working for the people and implementing schemes daily. More welfare initiatives would be rolled out in the next term. I request the people to support the chief minister to elevate Tamil Nadu's development to the next level," he said.
