Trichy: A total of 34,027 candidates, including 33,490 school students and 537 private candidates, appeared for Class X Tamil language examination in Trichy district on Wednesday.
Class X public examinations in Tamil Nadu began on Monday and will continue until Apr 6. In the district, 33,936 students from 446 schools had registered to write the examinations. Of them, 17,177 were boys and 16,759 were girls. In addition, 565 candidates — 396 men and 169 women — registered as private candidates. The school education department set up 177 examination centres across Trichy and Lalgudi educational districts for the students and private candidates.
During the Tamil language examination, 33,490 school students appeared for the test - 16,854 boys and 16,636 girls. A total of 446 students — 323 boys and 123 girls — were absent.
For private candidates, 11 examination centres were arranged, including one at Trichy Central Prison complex. A total of 537 candidates appeared for the examination, while 28 candidates were absent. Overall, 34,027 candidates appeared for the examination in the district, while 474 candidates were absent.
