Musicians pay homage to Thyagaraja in Thiruvaiyaru

THANJAVUR: Renowned Carnatic musicians rendered Pancharatna Kritis to pay homage to saint poet Thyagaraja at his samadhi in Thiruvaiyaru in Thanjavur on Tuesday.

As many as 200 musicians rendered Pancharatna Kritis in unison at the samadhi of the saint Thyagaraja. It was the 177th aradhana held in Thiruvaiyaru.

Musicians and instrumentalists like Sudha Raghunathan, Mahathi, OS Arun, Nithyashree, Cuddalore Janani, Harithuvaramangalam AK Palanivel, Srimushnam V Raja Rao, Binni Krishnakumar and many others participated.

The event began at 8 am with ‘mangala isai’ and concluded with the Anjaneyar procession.

Earlier, a portrait of the saint was brought in a procession from Thyagaraja Kutir to the samadhi, where a special puja was performed.

Sri Thyagaprahma Mahotsava Sabha president GK Vasan, district collector Deepak Jacob and additional collector Srikanth participated.
