MGMGH marks World Malaria Day with awareness rally in Trichy
Trichy: Marking World Malaria Day, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH) on Saturday organised an awareness rally and a programme to educate the public and medical community on prevention and eradication of the disease.The rally, held within the hospital premises, was organised by the departments of paediatrics, community medicine and general medicine. It was followed by a programme at the hospital auditorium, presided over by dean Dr S Kumaravel. Addressing the gathering, the dean, along with deputy medical superintendent Dr Arun Raj, professor of general medicine Dr Satish Kumar and head of community medicine Dr Parveen, spoke on malaria transmission, its public health impact and preventive measures. Speakers also highlighted this year's theme—"Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can. Now We Must"—and stressed the need for collective action to eliminate the disease. Faculty members, nursing staff, and medical and nursing students participated in the event.
