Man killed in fight with ‘friend’

Karur: A 39-year-old man was stabbed to death at his friend's house in Karur in the early hours of Thursday. Police have arrested the ‘friend' for the murder.The deceased, B Aasai Thambi, a resident of Pasupathipalayam, was drinking with his friends, including Kannan K, 39, at Kannan's house on Wednesday night. After the session, Aasai Thambi stayed back, which however resulted in a fight with Kannan and his death. Police said that around 3.30am, Kannan informed his friends about the incident and claimed he was unaware of what happened. They rushed back and alerted Pasupathipalayam police around 6am. Police conducted an inquiry and arrested Kannan on charges of murder. The body was sent to Karur govt medical college hospital for postmortem. Police said Aasai Thambi was unmarried and lived with his mother, taking up odd jobs for a living. Pasupathipalayam police have registered a case, and further investigation is underway.
