Man befriends techie on bus, robs him with group

Trichy: Police are on the lookout for a group of four people who befriended, assaulted and robbed an IT employee near Cantonment earlier this week.According to sources, R Sathish, 38, from Mappadugai village near Mayiladuthurai, works in an IT company in Bengaluru. On Augt 15, when Sathish was going to his native in a bus, a man named Vishwa befriended him.Later on Aug 17, when Sathish was returning from Mayiladuthurai to Bengaluru, he met Vishwa again in Trichy. Vishwa took Sathish in his two-wheeler on the pretext that he needed to take his baggage.When Vishwa and Sathish reached an isolated place near the Trichy Cantonment around 9pm, three others joined them. The group assaulted Sathish and robbed his gold chain, his mobile phone, and 48,000 cash, and then fled the scene.Sathish returned to Mayiladuthurai and checked into the general hospital for treatment. On Thursday, he complained to the police in Trichy.A case was registered at the Cantonment Police station under BNS Section 309-6 (robbery and assault).
