Since several residents from Ponni Delta Gated community where interested in music concerts, the kendra was formed last year and has been organising monthly music and cultural programmes.
Further, people of Trichy enjoyed quality programmes by joining Ponni Kala Kendra as members.
In a hall filled with music lovers, Krishna’s rendition of Janaki Pathe in Karaharapriya raga came as a stream of fine euphonious phrases.
Within a few minutes, Krishna started Thanam in the same raga. With ingenious improvisations for 15 minutes, his performance was enhanced by good support from mridangam. A total of seven numbers were sung by him.
TM Krishna, known for his unique style of song rendition, captivated his audience in his final Thanam piece. In a few moments he sang ‘Appan Avatharithar’, a Tamil song composed by Papanasam Sivan in Adi thalam.

Last year, notable vocal artists like Mahati, Papanasam Ashok Ramani and various emerging artists performed on Papanasam Sivan’s birth anniversary.
This year’s event was inaugurated by Haridwaramangalam A K Palanivel, a leading Thavil artist. Amritha Murali and Papanasam Ashok Ramani gave mellowing performance on the previous days of the event.
Ambujam Vedantam, a senior musician and music teacher from Trichy was conferred the title 'Sangeetha Samarpana Shri' by Ponni Kala Kendra. The Kendra is patronized by several leading residents of Trichy including people in the education, medical and professional fields.
Speaking about Papanasam Sivan’s compositions, T M Krishna said, “His compositions are explicit. His music and lyrics are inseparable and it creates a magic when his songs is rendered. It comes as a unison.”
The programme was supported by Papanasam Sivan family (Papanasam Ashok Ramani & Rukmini Ramani).
The event is sponsored by Natesan Housing (P) Ltd, the promoter of first of its kind gated community in Trichy and powered by The Times of India.
