KVs see lesser pass per cent than last year

Trichy: Nithya Narayanan, a commerce student of Kendriya Vidyalaya No 1, Ordinance Factory Trichy (OFT) secured the first position among students of Kendriya Vidyalaya schools in the district by securing 474 out of 500 marks in the CBSE Class 12 results, which were announced on Saturday. Sai Sridhar from the same school bagged 463 out of 500 in science stream.

Principal of the school V Natarajan said the overall result stood at 97.18% with two out of the 30 students who appeared from commerce stream failing in the examination. "We had got 98% the previous year," he said.

Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya No 2, HAPP Trichy N Alagendhi said that out of the 40 students who wrote the exam, 33 were from the science stream while the remaining belonged to humanities.

"Mathematics paper was tough this year due to which two of our students failed in the subject. One more student failed in economics and the overall pass percentage dropped to 92.5% this year. We had manage to secure 100% the previous year," she said.

Among the private CBSE schools, M Harini of Alpha Wisdom Vidyashram in Trichy scored 480 out of 500 marks followed by S Hari Prasanth with 473 marks. M Porselvi, principal of the school said the overall performance of the school has improved from the previous year where a total 44 students appeared for the examination.
