Jazeera Airways to operate 24 services between Trichy and Saudi
Trichy: Kuwait-based Jazeera Airways, a low-cost air carrier, will operate 24 non-scheduled services between Trichy and Dammam, Saudi Arabia, from April 7 till May 1 to repatriate Indian nationals stranded in Kuwait and other Middle East countries due to the ongoing conflicts in West Asia. Jazeera Airways will be the fifth foreign air carrier to operate from the Trichy international airport. The airport management said based on spot availability, the flights will be operated at different timings, including on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. "Based on the load factor, there is a likelihood of continuing the non-scheduled services between Trichy and Dammam," said airport director S S Raju. While the ticket booking has already begun, the airport management cautioned flyers to verify the latest flight status before proceeding towards the airport. Welcoming the development, aviation enthusiasts urged the Centre to include Trichy as a point of call in the India-Kuwait Bilateral Air Service Agreements (BASA) so that Kuwait-based carriers could regularly operate flights to Trichy. "There is a potential to operate weekly services from Trichy to Saudi Arabia and other Middle East countries," H Ubaidullah, independent aviation analyst, said.
