History-sheeter among two held for ₹6 lakh theft in Trichy
Trichy: Two men, including a history-sheeter, were arrested on Thursday for allegedly stealing ₹6 lakh from a TNSTC bus conductor near the Central bus stand.Police identified the accused as S Siva, 29, and B Raja, 41, both from Periya Milaguparai. The victim, P Subramaniyan, 56, of Samayapuram, had withdrawn ₹6 lakh — ₹4 lakh as a loan from the TNSTC Employees' Cooperative Society and ₹2 lakh from a private bank. He kept the cash in a bag on his two-wheeler and parked it near the bus stand before stepping away briefly. On returning, he found the bag missing and lodged a complaint with the Cantonment police. Based on CCTV footage, police identified the accused, who were seen near the bus terminus at the time of the theft. Following their arrest, ₹1.1 lakh in cash and a mobile phone were recovered.
