: All private schools and colleges have declared a holiday on Friday as a state-wide bandh has been declared over the Cauvery row. All government colleges and schools will remain open, but attendance is likely to be minimal.

The association of private schools has said the institutions will not function on Friday to avoid inconvenience to children and their parents in the absence of private transport service.

"All autorickshaws and private buses which ferry children to school will stay off the road," said office bearer of the association of private schools K R Nandha Kumar.

All the 184 matriculation higher secondary schools, 200 nursery and primary schools in the district will remain closed.

"The impact is likely to be higher in the delta region, which is the epicenter of the whole issue. Trichy city may be less affected as public transport will not be affected," said Nandha Kumar.

said all 35 CBSE schools in and around Trichy will remain closed.

She said besides issues of transportation, the decision to shut schools on Friday was taken to express solidarity with the farmers of Tamil Nadu farmers.

There has been no communication from the state government on shutting schools on Friday. Meanwhile, reports were circulating on social media that class tests in government schools scheduled for Friday will be held on Saturday, but there wes no official confirmation.
