Trichy: Following backlash from students and a section of faculty members attached to Tamil Nadu govt college teachers' association (TNGCTA), an assistant professor in Karur Govt Arts College accused of sexual harassment has been transferred to another govt college. The principal in-charge of the college has also been relieved from the post in connection with this issue.
Sources said, a female student studying at the college in Thanthondrimalai had accused the assistant professor of sexual harassment a few months ago. A section of students held a protest but based on a complaint lodged by college administration, Thanthondrimalai police registered a case against 13 students.
Angered by this, a section of faculty members linked to TNGCTA, have been protesting since Feb 26.

Addressing reporters on Monday, state secretary of TNGCTA, David Livingstone, alleged that the principal in-charge, S Sudha, has been shielding the assistant professor.
Trichy regional joint directorate of collegiate education sources said the assistant professor has been transferred to Sathyamangalam Govt Arts College in Erode.
Meanwhile, Sudha will continue only as controller of examinations. K Vasudevan from Thanthai Periyar Govt Arts and Science College, has been named as the new principal in-charge.
