Trichy: P Ayyakannu, state president of National South Indian River Interlinking Farmers Association, and 29 others were booked by the Trichy fort police on charges of trespassing and abusing the staff of the district central cooperative bank on Monday. Police said V Ramanathan approached the bank on Fort Station Road to apply for a loan. However, the bank denied the loan after the due process. Subsequently, on Monday evening, Ramanathan, along with Ayyakannu and others, assembled at the bank and created a ruckus. Based on a complaint by manager K Kannan, police registered a case.
