The court also ordered him to undergo one year of rigorous imprisonment and to pay a fine of 10,000 under Section 7 of PC Act.
Deputy superintendent of police (DSP), directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption (Trichy detachment), G Manikandan said on Thursday that Nallaiyan had been working as a physical education teacher at the government higher secondary school in Sirugambur. He approached the sub-treasury office to surrender his earned and unearned leaves in order to encash them.
On March 14, 2008, Krishnamoorthy demanded 500 from Nalliayan to process his file. Unwilling to pay the bribe, Nallaiyan lodged a complaint with the DVAC on March 17, 2008. The police laid a trap. They caught Krishnamoorthy red-handed when Nalliayan gave him 500.
The court confirmed that the accused abused his official position and obtained the bribe money.
