DST award for TREC executive director

Trichy: The department of science and technology has conferred an award on R M P Jawahar, executive director of Tiruchirappalli Regional Engineering College (TREC) - Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Park (STEP). The award was conferred in recognition of the role played by the executive director and the TREC-STEP in the development of business incubation and entrepreneurship model promoting new business ventures.As part of Start-up UTSAV organised by the department of science and technology in line with the Independence Day celebrations in New Delhi, the department of science and technology had awarded key persons and institutes that were contributing to the start-up ecosystem. As TREC-STEP has incubated over 400 high-tech start-ups and 2,250 micro-enterprises and created over 6,000 new jobs, the executive director was chosen for the award. tnn
