DMK, AIADMK candidates against Vijay file papers

Trichy: Candidates of major political parties in Trichy and around the region filed their nomination papers on Saturday.

In Trichy East, DMK's sitting MLA Inigo Irudhayaraj, and AIADMK's G Rajasekaran, who are set to face TVK chief Vijay filed their nominations. Irudhayaraj met religious leaders and sought their support before filing his papers. Vijay, who is also contesting from Perambur, filed nominations in Trichy on Thursday.


School education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, who filed his nomination to contest from Thiruverumbur, expressed confidence of securing victory. In Srirangam, AIADMK candidate R Manoharan and TVK's Ramesh filed nomination papers. Elsewhere, in Mannargudi, minister T R B Rajaa filed his nomination. In Karur, DMK candidate M Thiagarajan, who is contesting in place of V Senthilbalaji, also filed his papers.
