Cyclist killed in road accident in Trichy

Trichy: A 59-year-old man on a bicycle was killed when a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus knocked down the bicycle near Subramaniapuram in Trichy city on Sunday evening.Police identified the deceased as K Murugesan, from Muthaliyar Chathiram in Palakkarai. He was returning home on the Trichy-Pudukottai highway. While approaching Subramaniapuram, Murugesan attempted to cross the highway through one median opening. Meanwhile, a speeding govt bus heading towards Pudukottai rammed the bicycle. Murugesan sustained severe head injuries. Though he was rushed by onlookers to MGMGH Trichy, doctors declared him dead on arrival. Traffic south investigation wing police have registered a case and are investigating. The TNSTC bus was secured by the police.
