Couple dies after lorry hits motorcycle

Trichy: A couple on a motorbike died after being hit by a truck near Musiri in Trichy district on Sunday. Police identified the deceased as M Manoharan, 62, and M Sarasu, 51, residents of Alathudaiyanpattti in the Uppiliapuram block of Trichy district. Around 11am on Sunday, the couple were travelling on the Thathaiyangarpet to Mettupalayam road. When they were near Thathaiyangarpet, a truck driven by N Thangaraj from Namakkal district collided with their motorcycle from the opposite direction. Manoharan and Sarasu suffered severe injuries and died on the spot, police said. Police recovered the bodies and sent them to Thuraiyur Government Hospital for postmortem. The bodies were handed over to family members on Monday.Police booked a case under Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are investigating.
