Case against shop owner for employing boy

Trichy: Trichy city police on Thursday filed a case against a shop owner for employing a minor boy in his establishment. Woraiyur police registered a case against M Mohammed Hussain, 47, based on a complaint from assistant labour inspector Rajendran of range-V in Trichy.
When Rajendran inspected Abdullah Agency hardware shop at Mailam Santhai on Wednesday afternoon, he found a 14-year-old boy employed at the shop. He rescued the boy and handed him over to the child welfare committee (CWC) so as to hand him over to his parents.
Police said the boy who has completed Class VIII was on vacation when his parents sent him to work in the shop for supporting the family. Rajendran said on Friday that the boy was working there for the past two months.
Acting on the complaint, police booked Mohammed Hussain under sections of Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act.
