Karur: The driver of the private college bus which collided with a goods train at an unmanned railway crossing in Karur on Saturday has been booked for negligence.Police said bus driver Periyasamy R, 64, who is still under treatment, has been booked under 281 (rash or negligent driving/riding on a public way) and 125 A (rash or negligent driving that endangers others) of BNS by Velliyanai police. It may be recalled that 24 students and the driver were injured after a goods train rammed the college bus on a private railway line operated by Chennai Cements near Velliyanai on Saturday evening. The accident happened when the bus carrying close to 50 students of VSB Engineering College in Karuduyampalayam was trying to cross the railway crossing. At that time, a goods train passing by collided with the rear of the bus. One student who suffered a head injury was shifted to Coimbatore while others were treated at Karur govt medical college hospital.
