Bribery case: Trichy court sentences former treasury accountant to four years in jail
TRICHY: A Trichy court on Thursday sentenced a former accountant of sub-treasury office at Lalgudi to four years of imprisonment in a bribery case.
Special court for the Prevention of Corruption Act in Trichy convicted N Krishnamoorthy, 62, demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 500 from retired physical education teacher S Nallaiyan in 2008.

The court also ordered him to undergo one year of rigorous imprisonment and to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 under Section 7 of PC Act.
Deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (Trichy detachment), G Manikandan said on Thursday that Nallaiyan had been working as a physical education teacher at the government higher secondary school in Sirugambur. He approached the sub-treasury office to surrender his earned and unearned leaves in order to encash them.

Had the accused was a rich politician, it is certain the case would have been dismissed for want of sufficient proof. Wonderful Indian legal system.Read allPost comment
