Jothimani, who took to X to post the video and condemn the obscene statement on Monday, said, "What happened to me is not a personal incident. It is part of a long and continuing pattern of individual, obscene attacks that women who step into public spaces in this country have faced for generations. Sexually degrading language, threats and public humiliation are not accidental. For years, they have been deliberately used as weapons against women. These obscene attacks are carried out to silence women, to drive us out of public spaces, out of politics and out of leadership."
On Monday and Tuesday, Congress leaders and other members of the INDIA bloc came out in support of Jothimani and hit out at the BJP for disrespecting women leaders.
