TRICHY: The Bengali Association Trichy has planned to celebrate the Durga Pjja festival for five days from October 20 (Friday) at the Bhel’s Kailasapuram township on the outskirts of Trichy city in Tamil Nadu.
The association said that the festival would serve as an opportunity for the local population to experience the traditional celebration of West Bengal.

The celebrations will be conducted at Kailasapuram club in B sector, near the boiler plant post office in Bhel township. Between October 20 and October 24, organisers said that prayers and rituals are planned both in the morning (7 am) and evening hours (7 pm).
“People hailing from different states who are working in NIT, IIM, Bharathidasan Institute of Management, and Ordnance factories in various parts of Trichy have confirmed their participation. During the festival, Annadhanam (free food) will be provided to around 1,500 people,” Amit Ray, vice president of Bengali Association Trichy said. The Bengali association said that special permission was provided for the people residing outside the Bhel township to attend the events.
“The festival has been organised at Trichy for over three decades now. Since our event is the only celebration in Trichy and the surrounding region, we are planning to invite more people this year,” Amit Ray added. Interested people were requested by the organisers to contact 75985-41233.
