AIADMK MP P Kumar lashes out at Nirmala Sitharaman for ignoring Trichy

TRICHY: The Member of Parliament (MP) from Trichy constituency, P Kumar, lashed out at defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman for not paying heeds to clear the pending infrastructure projects of the city.The AIADMK MP also accused that both the Congress and BJP governments at Centre have been unfair towards the city as both have failed to provide the required defence land for completing crucial projects such as Trichy junction RoB and the expansion of Trichy International Airport.The Trichy MP, who also happens to the be the Urban district secretary of Trichy AIADMK unit, had organised an event at Melakalkandarkottai on Friday night to mobilise the party cadres ahead of Lok Sabha polls.The MP accused Sitharaman, who completed her under-graduation from the city, of not helping the city in completing the pending infrastructure projects. “Though, the defence minister belongs to Trichy, she did nothing to help us complete the pending projects,” said MP P Kumar. Referring to the 0.66 acre defence land required to complete an arm of the Trichy junction RoB, which could decongest the saturated city, Kumar said his repeated attempts to secure defence land went in vain as the defence ministry was not supportive.
