Trichy: Police busted a brothel operating out of a house in Kumaran Nagar on Friday and rescued five women .
The government hospital police arrested S Raja alias Karthik Raja, 29 of Cantonment in Trichy, M Ranjith, 21, of Nadu Vannarapettai in Trichy, M Chandrasekar, 25, of Vengamedu in Karur district and K Gowtham, 22, of Vengamedu for running the brothel.
Acting on a complaint, a police team visited the house which was taken on rent to operate the sex trade. Police rescued four women from Kallakurichi and Chennai aged between 22 and 28. They were sent to the government protective home for care and protection.
Police seized three mobile phones and a two-wheeler from them. All the accused had cases pending against them in Trichy and Karur. Raja had 19 cases pending against him in Trichy, Ariyalur, Dindigul, Villpuram and few other areas. The accused were booked under Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
The accused were produced in court and remanded in judicial custody.
