PERAMBALUR: The Maravathur police confiscated 320 kg of banned
gutka
products and arrested two people in Perambalur district on Tuesday.
Police said the arrested were K Rajadurai, 49, and T Bomaram, 26, both hailing from Srinivasapuram in Thanjavur. On Tuesday, the two were transporting the products to
Thanjavur
from Attur in Salem district via Perambalur. They gutka products were stored in 20 gunny bags.
On their way, they lost control of their SUV and rammed into a tree in Perali village near Perambalur. While Rajadurai and Bomaram escaped unhurt, the gunny bags were thrown out of the vehicle. Though they managed to retrieve the scattered gutka products, Perali villagers grew suspicious of their activities and immediately a lerted Maruvathur police.
