TRICHY: Trichy city police registered a case of chain snatching and break-in in the city on Saturday.
S Thomas, 43 from Papa colony extension in Edamalaipattipudhur in Trichy was walking near
Velankanni
school in his locality on Saturday evening. A motorist came from his behind and snatched his
three sovereign gold chain
.
Unable to catch the offender, Thomas noted down the registration number of the bike and lodged a complaint with the Edamalaipattipudhur police. The police initiated an investigation and checked if there was any CCTV coverage in the area to zero in on the accused. The police valued the ornament at Rs 75,000.
Meanwhile, the Airport police in the city also received a complaint from T Sundaram, 43 from Koothaipaar village in Thiruverumbur on Saturday.
The complainant, an office manager of Alpha School in Sudhana Nagar, had left home from the office after handing over the key of the administrative office to the security people in the evening on Friday.
When Sundaram returned back to the office on Saturday morning he found the main door broken. Further, he found Rs 10,000 cash kept in the office stolen. He also found some of the school documents kept in the bureau missing. The Airport police took up the case and registered an FIR.
