According to Arulmanickam’s complaint, Shajahan received Rs 75,000 from him in November 2022, with the assurance of securing a job abroad. Additionally, Shajahan also collected sums of Rs 70,000, Rs 80,000, and Rs 70,000 from his acquaintances, Ranjithkumar, Arul Jerone, and Kumar, respectively, under the pretext of providing overseas employment opportunities. Despite receiving the money,
Shajahan failed to fulfill his promise of securing employment for any of the four people and refused to return the money.
Upon receiving the complaint submitted to the commissioner of police, Trichy city, M Sathya Priya, the Edamalaipattipudhur police booked Shajahan on charges of cheating. However, Shajahan has not been arrested at this time.
In another case of cheating by offering jobs abroad, the police have also registered a case against K Velarasan and K Vetrivel of Thillaivilagam in the Tiruvarur district.
The complaint, forwarded by the commissioner of police, was filed by P Balu, 47, from E Pudhur. Balu alleged that Velarasan had promised him and eight of his friends jobs in Canada.
Collectively, they paid Velarasan and Vetrivel a total of Rs 12 lakh one year ago, but the promised jobs never materialized. When they demanded a refund, the duo issued a check of Rs 5 lakh only. Subsequently, a case was registered on Tuesday based on Balu’s complaint.
