Woman held for railway job scam

Thampanoor police on Thursday arrested a woman for cheating a youth offering a job in Indian Railways. The arrested has been identified by police as Reshma, 23, of Thrikkovilvattom in Kollam. A Palakkad-based woman Sheeba, 28, was earlier arrested in the case.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thampanoor police on Thursday arrested a woman for cheating a youth offering a job in Indian Railways. The arrested has been identified by police as Reshma, 23, of Thrikkovilvattom in Kollam. A Palakkad-based woman Sheeba, 28, was earlier arrested in the case.
Police said the accused cheated Rahul G, 22, of Thiruvallam, offering a job. Rahul was even given training for the job by the accused at Trichy last year

Later a fake identity card of ‘enquiry cum reservation clerk’ and an offer letter of appointment as a trainee at Palakkad railway station were also provided to him.
“I gave the women Rs 7.5lakh after getting the identity card and offer letter, and I joined duty at Palakkad railway station. However, there I was arrested by railway police after finding that my identity card was fake. It was then I realised that I was cheated,” said Rahul.
Thampanoor police remanded the accused on charges under sections of IPC 419 for cheating by personation and 465 for forgery. Police also found that the accused had cheated several other youngsters as well offering jobs, but they were not willing to register a case due to fear.
“The investigation is on and more details of the crime will be known later,” said police.
