Cultural Festival from July 8 to 23 at Vayalar Nagar, Putharikandam ground.

The ninth edition of the festival will be inaugurated by tourism minister Kadakampally Surendran at 5pm on July 8. City mayor, V K Prasanth will host the festival flag and deputy mayor Rakhi Ravikumar will inaugurate the Vayalar Smrithi Mandapam. The meeting will be presided by K Chandrika, president of Vayalar Cultural forum. A violin concert of Kaippattoor Radhakrishnan including film songs will be held after the inaugural session.

“Cultural meetings, Vayalar Ramavarma film-media awards distribution, felicitation of artists, women’s conference, youth conference, music programmes commemorating late artists, concerts by eminent singers, dance programmes etc. will be a part of the cultural festival,” said K Chandrika in a news conference on Wednesday.

During the festival, Natyaratna Puraskaram will be presented to Aparna Paliyath Vinod, an artist based in Bengaluru. She is the director of Tarang Academy, Bengaluru. Vayalar Ramavarma film-media awards will be presented on July 20 at 5pm. It will be followed by a mega show by film stars and popular singers.

The award for the best film will be received by Megha Rajesh Pillai for the film ‘Take Off’. Kaladharan and Surabhi Lekshmi will receive the award for Best actor and Best actress respectively.

Yuvakala Prathibha Puraskaram will be received by Attukal Balasubramoniam and Anil Govind.
