V Muraleedharan seeks Saji Cherian’s resignation

Thiruvananthapuram: BJP leader and former Union minister V Muraleedharan accused the state govt on Tuesday of attempting to protect the culprits by withholding the Hema Committee report for nearly five years. He demanded the resignation of culture minister Saji Cherian for failing to deliver justice to women in the Malayalam film industry.
"Despite being aware of serious sexual offenses, including those that could lead to Pocso charges, the Pinarayi Vijayan govt has done nothing. Covering up crimes under the Pocso Act is a serious offense. Saji Cherian has violated his oath of office and has lost the moral right to continue as a minister," Muraleedharan said. He questioned whom the govt was trying to protect by hiding behind the Right to Information Act.
Muraleedharan also accused CPM central committee member AK Balan of siding with the perpetrators by concealing their crimes. He called on women's rights activists, both within and outside the film industry, to speak out on the matter.
