The inspection wing in its report submitted to the government in July 2019 had recorded that the university had violated the UGC norms, especially those regarding methodology for calculating the academic performance indicator (API) score, one of the key indicators that determines the promotion eligibility of teachers. While the UGC norms insist that candidates should obtain minimum score for each of the four categories for assessment, the university claims that such separate minimum score for all three categories is not applicable to

agriculture

university. Instead, the candidates only need to obtain minimum annual score for all categories put together. In some cases, candidates had even obtained scores beyond the ceiling set for each assessment category. TNN
