Two-year-old girl killed in accident
Thiruvananthapuram: A two-year-old girl met with a tragic death after the car in which she was travelling rammed a retainer wall beside the road near Vembayam on Wednesday. Nessa, daughter of Michael Augustine and Suja Abraham of Pravathanam, Bharananganam near Pala in Kottayam is the deceased.
Police said the accident occurred around 5am at Mukkampalam on Nedumangad - Vembayam stretch under Vattappara police station limits. Police suspect that the driver dozing off behind the wheel would have caused the accident.
There were a total of seven persons in the Ford Figo car. They were Suja Abraham, her six-year-old son Caine, daughter Nessa, father Abraham, mother Thresiamma, her sister’s seven-year-old daughter Gia and driver Saji. The car belonged to Suja’s brother Saju. Saji was hired to drive the vehicle to take the family to Piravanthanam. All of them have sustained serious injuries in the accident. Suja and Thresiamma have suffered fractures on their legs.
They were heading to Suja’s husband’s home in Piravathanam from their ancestral home at Amboori near Kattakkada. Suja and children had come to their ancestral home here on April 19 to enjoy vacation. Suja’s husband Michael Augustine is an NRI.
Nessa’s body was released to the family after postmortem. tnn
