Thiruvananthapuram: Thampanoor police on Thursday registered a case against two women for cheating a youth of lakhs of rupees offering a job in the railways.
The complaint Rahul G (22) of Gokulam at Madathilnada near Thiruvallam, alleged that the accused Reshma (23), a Kollam native, and Sheeba (28), a Palakkad native, had given him job training at Trichy last year along with others. Later they also provided him a fake identity card for the post of ‘enquiry cum reservation clerk’ and a letter of appointment as trainee at Palakkad railway station.
“After getting the identity card and the offer letter, I gave the women Rs 7.5 lakhs and joined duty at Palakkad railway station. However, while on duty on November 29, 2022, I was arrested from the platform by railway police after they found that my identity card was fake. It was then I realised that I was cheated. I have filed a case at Thampanoor police station,” said Rahul.
The police have also found that the accused cheated several other youths as well by offering jobs but they were not willing to register a case due to fear. “The investigation is on and preliminary findings revealed that Rahul was cheated,” said the police.
