Kerala: Two PWD officials suspended

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Public Works department (PWD) minister G Sudhakaran has ordered for suspension of two

PWD officials

and blacklisted contractor for their lapses in overlay of Shornoor-Perinthalmanna road. An assistant engineer and overseer were suspended on Thursday after reviewing the report submitted by the superintending engineer (Central Region).


The minister had received complaints regarding dilapidated condition of the road, which was recently given a bituminous

macadam

layering.

As per the report of the superintending engineer, there lack of quality of BM and lapses from the part of officials in inspecting the work were the reasons for the bad condition of the road. Following this, the minister ordered suspension of assistant engineer Shalinitha K, who is currently assistant engineer at roads division in Puzhakkal,

Thrissur

, and overseer Jayakrishnan V C, who is serving at Shornor. Another official — assistant executive engineer O B Madhu — had recently resigned from service.

The minister has also ordered to blacklist the contractor.
