THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The
Poojapura
police on Tuesday arrested two men with commercial quantities of synthetic drug
MDMA
and ganja. The police identified the accused as
Kirankumar
alias Sreekuttan, 24, of Melamcode, and Anandaraj, 23, of Karumam.
Police said that the accused were caught after intercepting the autorickshaw in which they were traveling near
Vijayamohini Mills
under Poojapura police station limits. The accused tried to escape by attacking the officers. recovered 25g of MDMA and several small packets of ganja from the accused.
The accused were transporting the contraband to sell it among school and college students, police said. As per the provisions of Narcotic Drugs and
Psychotropic Substances Act
, possession of even very small quantity of MDMA is a non-bailable offence.
Among the accused, Anandaraj is a habitual offender. Both the accused were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
