Train traffic

was disrupted in Akathamuri and Kadakkavoor railways station section for one and half hours, after a goods trains got stalled at Vennicode in the evening hours on Saturday.

The incident occurred at 7.10 pm when the goods train with multi engine carrying coal in Tirunelveli- Ernakulam route got stalled at Vennicode. Train no 16604

Maveli Express

and Train no 56308 Thiruvananthapuram Kollam Passenger got delayed as the goods train could not be cleared from the route.

According to railway spokesperson, the weight of the goods train moving in a speed limit area and heavy rain could have affected the movement of train.

Later, the engine of Thiruvananthapuram-Kollam passenger was brought to Kadakkavoor to pull the stalled train and train traffic was resumed.

The train traffic was resumed by 8.25 pm, after the good trains was moved from the track. Train no 16604 Maveli Express was operated with additional stoppages between Kadakkavoor and Kollam railway station for the passengers of Thiruvananthapuram-Kollam passenger.

Meanwhile, an eye witness said that such incidents are frequent in the railway track in the areas, which leads the wheels of the train to slip on the track and even could damage the track.
