Three held with 1.25 kg ganja in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Excise Enforcement and Anti Narcotics Special Squad has held three men who carried 1.25 kg ganja at Punnamoodu near Vizhinjam. The arrested were Udayakumar,48, Bijukumar alias Padakkam Sabu,35 and Renjith,32.

The squad also seized two bikes which were used to transport ganja. The squad is looking for Ajith Lal alias Joy Rose who is also involved in ganja trade.

Excise CI T Anikumar said that they have received information about ganja trade in the area a few days ago. '' These men were caught while they were trying to sell ganja to one of their customers. They bought ganja in 10-20 kilos and then sold it in smaller packets,'' said Anikumar.

Bijukumar is involved in over 27 criminal cases which also include hurling cracker at a cop. Ajithlal is also an accused in criminal cases involving murder. Renjith is an aide of Ajithlal. The arrested were produced at Neyyatintakara court and remanded in judicial custody.

Excise C I Anikumar, excise inspector V Shabu, preventive officer Rejikumar,civil excise officers Jaseem,Krishnaprasad,Anilkumar,Deepu,Unnikrishnan Nair and Ratheesh were part of the squad.
